The stages of DOSOPTI are:

  • A comprehensive forensic review (2-4 months): DOSOPTI-I
    • A mutual non-disclosure agreement will be signed to ensure confidentiality of the information received by DOSCON and the Client.
    • A site visit for comprehensive physical visual inspection. Our specialists will go through the existing plant’s physical connections (unit processes, tanks, connections, instrumentation etc) and any available plant design drawings and flow diagrams. They will consult plant personnel and management on any challenges related to performances, unusual behaviours and suggestions, and expectations for improvement. Plant operational data will be collected.
    • Review of the plant design, status and performance by an international panel of experts. The panel will raise additional clarification questions to the Client if needed
    • The panel will draft a forensic report consisting of current status and potential to solve or/and improve challenges. DOSCON will also provide indicative offers for the next stages of the DOSOPTI process to the Client for consideration.
    • After Quality Assurance by DOSCON QA team, the report will be sent to the Client, and agree on a meeting with the client. It can be an online meeting, og a hybrid meeting onsite or a physical meeting with a specialist.
  • Troubleshooting or solving challenges (2-12 months): DOSOPTI-II
    • DOSCON will provide a comprehensive offer describing the tasks to be performed, based on Client’s preferences and selections on which items from the forensic review recommendations to be performed. The offer will include the obligations from the Client (access to the site, SCADA systems if relevant, installation of any additional monitoring equipment on permanent or temporarily basis, supplementary analysis, etc), and time line.
    • After signing the agreement, DOSCON will carry out agreed improvements and start monitoring of the performance results. Based on the results some activities will be revisited for recalibration/improvement if needed
    • After completion of the performance monitoring for an agreed period, a final report draft will be prepared.

  • State-of-the-art real-time monitoring of water quality: DOSPROBE & DOSMON
    • Periodic grab sampling was quite common in the water sector, although it is still practiced. Grab sampling hardly give any valuable information because it gives the information relevant to the sampling moment only. Due to variations in the industrial operations and/or human activities, the quality of incoming water to a utility may change a lot and fast. Therefor water quality scientist confidently argue that there is no value in grab samples no for compliance monitoring nor for utility performance optimisation.
    • The first step to improve the understanding of the plant’s performance based on incoming and outgoing water is to use a composite sampling. DOSCON provides automatic composite samplers which may be programmed to take a defined volume from a flow or canal at given time intervals (time proportional: for example, 100 ml for every 15 minutes) or at given flow intervals (flow proportional: for example, 100 ml from each 10 m3 of flow). The sampling volumes and intervals can be programmed on the unit and can also start remotely. The samples can then be collected after day or several days and analysed and get a perfect overview of the average water quality. This is the correct value to be reported for compliance and also to consider further optimisation of the plant.
    • Real-time monitoring of water quality using physical sensors is an option increasingly used by utilities worldwide. Even the simple and cheap sensors and equipment like flow, pH, RedOx, conductivity, turbidity, TDS, temperature etc may provide invaluable information on the process performance and will assist in plant optimisation. There are real-time sensors for SS, COD and N-species and near-real-time systems based on wet chemistry for phosphate species. However these sensors may be too expensive for many utilities. DOSCON may advise clients on the selection of sensors, installation and maintenance and as well as present the results via the user-friendly DOSMON system.
    • Real-time monitoring of water quality using hybrid soft sensors DOSPROBE provides an affordable and accurate alternative to expensive autoanalysers and physical sensors. DOSCON has been pioneering hybrid soft sensors for wastewater utilities and sewer systems, well-functioning over 3 years. Soft-sensors ( also called as surrogate sensors or virtual sensors) are becoming popular. The classical example is the SS sensor which measures turbidity by light refraction, which reduces the SS measurement from 2-3 hours to seconds. There are other expensive sensors providing real-time measurements of COD, BOD, etc but costly (15-25 000 USD), but they cannot measure phosphates. DOSPROB is an innovative concept which combines the synergy of some cheap physical sensors (flow, pH, conductivity, TDS etc) with artificial intelligence based analytics of historical data with an accuracy of 90-95%. These measurements will be presented to the clients via the state-of-the-art dashboard DOSMON, which can be accessible via a PC or smartphone. The dashboard can be designed according to the preferences of the customer.
  • State-of-the-art user friendly dashboard -DOSMON
    • You don’t have to wait hours or days or travel to the control room of the utility to inspect how your utility functions first hand. DOSCON provides a smart solution enabling you to inspect and analyse the current and historical performance your utility from a PC or a smartphone, at your convenience at home, your car or from home, 24/7/365! DOSMON represents a leapfrogging of traditional trend curves in SCADA systems to the next generation, continuously upgrading dashboard.
    • DOSMON also has the functionality to monitor and evaluate the inlet and outlet water quality, treatment efficiency, abnormal conditions and provide alarms to various levels of the plant hierarchy depending on the seriousness of the situation.
    • Hardly any real-time sensor or equipment functions 24/7/365. DOSMON not only has built in functions to validate each and every online measurement but also to supply with alarms and near-real estimates until the sensors are re-validated by cleaning or calibration etc.
    • DOSMON can also auto generate reports for internal, specialists or authority’s use according to the user definitions
  • State-of-the-art process control- DOSBOX
    • DOSBOX uses data from physical and hybrid sensors, AI-assisted relationships identified in historical data and the most comprehensive and updated process knowledge. In DOSBOX you define your targets of treatment efficiencies and it will automatically strive to achieve it, provided they are achievable with the existing utilities.
    • DOSBOX will not only secure best treatment efficiencies possible but also make the outlet quality more stable. It will be documented in historical data, composite samples and reports generated.
    • Reduction of chemical coagulants, membrane cleaning chemicals, external carbon sources in denitrification, pH adjusting chemicals are components in DOSBOX
    • Wastewater sector is one of the significant consumers of electricity due to pumping and aeration requirements. DOSBOX will minimise the electricity consumption using Dissolved Oxygen controlled aeration and optimised flows between unit processes and return flows.
    • Increased coagulant dosing is not only a unnecessary chemical cost but it also increase the sludge generation which subsequently increase the sludge management costs. So why waste yor money and create additional burdens to the environment?
    • Often we say the water sector can only contribte to adapt to the Climate Change impacts. Think again, no, we can also contribute to mitigation by reducing green house gase emissions directly and indirectly. Energy use reduction reduces greenhouse gas emissions indirectly and more optimised biological processes reduce direct emissions. DOSBOX has intelligent functions to run your plant with minimum greenhouse gas emissions at any given time.
